FAQs

Q?

What makes our speaker boxes different from everybody else?

A.

The typical subwoofer enclosure (for the purposes of this conversation) is a "cube". Most manufacturers would simply glue six pieces of wood together to form the cube, then cut a hole in one side to accommodate the speaker. Functional, but bland. In order to create an enclosure with flowing design lines to complement the lines of the interior of the car, a two dimensional design is drawn in Auto CAD, then transferred to a CNC wood cutting robot. The robot precision cuts several two dimensional pieces of wood which are glued together to form a three dimensional enclosure with the same flowing lines. We have created a video that shows this process from start to finish.

Q?

Why are some of your speaker boxes so expensive?

A.

There is more to some of these enclosures that meets the eye. For example, the cost breakdown of the 355 Berlinetta enclosures are as follows:

The raw pieces of wood cut by the CNC robot for both enclosures: $200
Four JL Audio subwoofers @ ~$179 apiece: $700
Wrapping both enclosures in OEM Ferrari leather and stitching: $700
Hardware (speaker wire, connectors, machine screws, T nuts): $100

We are already at $1700 and we haven't even started building anything yet. These 355 enclosures are one of the most difficult to construct of all the Ferrari models. It takes me two full days of woodworking to glue the pieces together, cut the speaker holes, cut the pockets for the electronics, cut the mounting holes, install the electronics and install the subwoofers after the leather has been installed. And yes, the OEM Ferrari leather comes straight from the tannery at Ferrari and is very expensive.

So I am essentially paying myself less than $200 for about two and a half days worth of work. So I am basically making minimum wage. 🙂

Q?

How long does it take a complete an order?

A.

In an effort to keep up with the demand, I will construct several speaker boxes and amplifier cradles before I receive the actual orders. This way, I have an inventory of pieces that are totally complete except for the leather. It typically takes 2 to 3 days for the upholstery shop to wrap one of the pieces with the OEM Ferrari leather and stitching, so I can ship out an order in 2 to 3 days. If a custom leather color is desired, it takes 2 to 5 additional days to receive the leather.

The cost of the shipping depends on the customer. Our customers in Bahrain are reporting a week or two for the cheapest shipping option. Two day air and even overnight in the CONUS is actually not that expensive.

Q?

Can I install this equipment myself?

A.

Absolutely! Every piece of equipment I design has a hard prerequisite of being easy to install. Additionally, I have created several installation videos where I actually install the equipment and explain the installation process from start to finish.

Q?

Is there any cutting or drilling required to install the equipment?

A.

Absolutely no cutting. As far as drilling holes, some equipment will require two or three small holes to be drilled. However, Ferrari drills holes in the same locations for their equipment, and the holes are in locations where no one would ever see them. The details are outlined below:

No drilling holes to mount the midrange speakers in the doors. I have designed and manufactured stainless steel adapter plates for the midrange speakers that bolt into the door using the existing screws that would otherwise secure the OEM midrange. You remove the OEM midrange, bolt the adapter plate in its place, then bolt the new midrange to the adapter plate.

Since the tweeters are permanently mounted into the black plastic A pillar triangles in the doors of the 430 and 360 models, you must either cut out the (cheap) OEM tweeters or purchase new black triangles. We offer the installation of the new tweeters into either your, or new black triangles as a FREE service.

To install the amplifier cradle in a 360, you need to drill two small holes in the center console that are underneath the carpeted panel. No one would ever see these holes. Even if you remove the cradle in the future, the holes would remain completely hidden. See the installation video for details. Also, you need to drill one small hole in the very front of the center console cover, way under the dash, to secure the cradle in the front. Ferrari drills two large holes in the same are to secure their OEM amplifier cradle (completely hidden unless your head is on the floor). With our cradle, only one small hole is required (1/8").

To secure the speaker box to the firewall, you need to drill two 1/4" holes in the engine access panel to mount the stainless steel mounting bracket. Ferrari already does this for all cars equipped with the OEM speaker box. You would be drilling two holes of the same size and in the same location as Ferrari does. The engine access panel is behind the firewall carpet or leather, no one would ever see these. See the installation video for details.

Q?

What if I don’t want to install the equipment myself?

A.

We have been compiling a network of "Trusted Installers" across the country that includes selected Ferrari dealers as well as aftermarket stereo shops. We will be publishing this list shortly. Meanwhile, let me know the general area and I will provide you with a reputable shop. Keep in mind that this equipment is extremely easy to install and any competent stereo shop should be up to the task.

Q?

Do you personally install equipment for clients?

A.

I very rarely help out with installs as I just do not have the time. It's all I can do to keep up with the speaker box orders.

That being said, if you live close to me and get stuck, my all means, come over! We will figure it out. Or I can drive to your place. I'm always looking for an excuse to get my 360 out of the garage. 🙂

Q?

Do you provide after sales support?

A.

Absolutely! Our relationship does not end when the sale is made, that's when it begins. My customers are free to call me anytime with any questions regarding my gear.

Q?

Do you offer any guarantees?

A.

We offer a 30 day, unconditional, money back guarantee on all orders that include standard color leather.

For equipment wrapped with special order leather, we will refund the purchase price minus $500 ($400 for the leather, $100 for the upholsterer to remove the leather from the unit, a very long and tedious process).
